Frequently Asked Questions
Why Puerto Peñasco?
Puerto Peñasco experiences poverty in ways many of us cannot imagine. Many families live in small shacks, made of scrap materials, without a foundation, plumbing, or electricity. Young children, many of whom can barely talk, are on the street begging. There is little help from government and outside charities, unlike the familiar social service system we have in place in the United States. These people have nowhere to turn to for help. They have a staggering unemployment rate of 60%. With the US economy under pressure, many groups have put their commercial development in Puerto Peñasco on hold, further straining the job market.
We fell in love with Puerto Peñasco because of the people and the community. We are always met with open arms and incredibly hospitable and grateful people. This community appreciates the opportunities that are brought to them and we enjoy getting to know and growing with them. We encourage you to come on a build and truly understand why Puerto Peñasco is a deserving place for this mission.
